Why this plan is different
Two 31-3/8" folding legs on a 48" top overlap in width when folded, so most fold-down bench designs will not close. This plan offsets the two leg pivots in depth - leg A 3-1/2" back from the front edge, leg B 8" back - with a documented 1" gap, and shows exactly why in a dedicated folded plan view. The pivot uses a vertical slot and a notched bearing block so the deployed load bears flat on wood, not on the bolt.
